A timely triple: a brief encounter with three computing ideas
When you're deep in the weeds of a big software project, software engineering can seem mundane and maybe a bit boring/repetitive; broken tests, product managers with their whims, production issues, etc etc. It is easy to forget that computer science is an exciting field with a lot of very impressive technology.
In this talk we will touch on three exciting ideas from computer science: automatic differentiation, probabilistic programming, and logic/constraint solving. We'll present these ideas at a very high level and hopefully convince you that they are as elegant as they're useful

GitOps: Supercharge your Orchestration using Flux
Managing an infrastructure that can be observed and described declaratively through code is not new. GitOps, however, uses the Git ecosystem and tooling to supercharge your infrastructure. In GitOps, Continuous Deployment systems can be used to guarantee that different desired states of your infrastructure are deployed and reconciled, on different clusters. Code reviews, pull requests, and comments help you with change management. Flux makes GitOps open, extensible, and most importantly, easy. Join this workshop to learn more about the GitOps practices, and a chance to explore how Flux can help you supercharge your infrastructure.

Kubernetes-Native CI/CD with Tekton
Kubernetes native technologies are ready to maximize the benefits of Kubernetes' inherent features. They utilize many abstractions that Kubernetes provides to increase the efficiency of workloads operations. Moreover, they can run on any Kubernetes cluster (public or private), offering hybrid multi-cloud behavior by default.

Tekton is an open-source project, and it is one of those technologies that maximize the advantages of Kubernetes to provide a set of shared and standard components for building Kubernetes-style CI/CD systems.

Cognitive AI: When Data is Insufficient for The AI Solution Innovation
AI is transforming almost every industry including energy, security, transportation, healthcare, and even the way we work and communicate. The recent evolution of deep learning, thanks to the affordable higher computational power and availability of big data, contributed a lot to the AI digital transformation. However, there are many cases where data is not available, or sometimes contradicts for a deep learning model to converge. So, in such cases, where there is still a big economical value for AI automation, we certainly need another AI methodology to solve it. Human-like reasoning, aka, Symbolic AI, has recently gotten an attraction as it can provide an AI automation solution without the need for big historical data. Thus, “Hybrid AI”, which is a combination of Numeric AI, i.e., deep learning, and Symbolic AI, has become a trendy topic in the AI industry.

Hybrid AI has even more key additional values than just being able to automate with even little amount of historical data. The Hybrid AI, as a glass-box model, has a built-in capability of providing an explainable machine recommendation with a tracible audit trail. This is a very important feature that allowed many industries, where it is not allowed to rely on a black-box deep learning model to manage high-value assets, like human life, expensive energy facilities, or even a space mission asset.

Another important advantage of Hybrid AI over numeric-only AI is the ability to codify human knowledge. This is one of the main challenges in big enterprises losing the built-up knowledge of experts over decades once the expert is retiring. You will learn all of that and more from this talk in addition to some real-life examples and industrial use cases that were solved with Hybris AI by Beyond Limits”

Many organizations today strive to establish independent, autonomous development teams. The goal is to achieve speed, scalability and empowerment - but what does architecture governance look like in such a decentralised setup? How to walk the line between autonomy and chaos? While there are more and more ways to govern with technology solutions and automation, this talk will instead focus on the non-technical ways to cultivate architecture in an organisation, for example through architecture principles.

Lines and Boxes: Modern Cloud Applications Integration
Abstract: Modern Applications deployed in the cloud are based on serverless or microservices architectures and they are typically fine-grained, distributed, and interconnected. It's perfectly normal to represent those systems in a form of a diagram consisting - more or less - lines and boxes. Lines (connections between boxes that represent components) impose important functional and non-functional characteristics of the systems - like scalability, availability, and coupling. In this session, you will learn how serverless and application integration tools available in the AWS cloud make those connections explicit, automatable, and manageable. In other words: you will learn why lines (integrations) are as just important as boxes (components).
